JOIN AEFJN ACTION towards AFRICA

When an African region is faced with a conflict, difficulty or danger, at the demand of its members or the Churches in Africa, AEFJN undertakes certain actions towards the European Union Institutions and the member states.

 

The aim of these actions is to alleviate the suffering of the population on the region in conflict, or to suport the respect of the human, socio-economic, cultural and political rights.

The facts

On May 27th 2010, the Rwandan government arrested Professor Peter Erlinder and falsely charged him with genocide ideology.   Mr. Erlinder, an International Human Rights lawyer, traveled to Rwanda to represent his client, Mrs. Victore Ingabire, a presidential candidate also accused of genocide ideology for daring to call on the Rwandan government to remember all victims of the Rwandan war.

Write to the government of Swaziland to respect Human Rights on Activists search

More than a dozen activists in Swaziland have been harassed, threatened, ill-treated or detained by the Swaziland police since June 2010 under the 2008 Suppression of Terrorism Act. Amnesty International is not naming the activists for fear of increasing their risk. Amnesty International is concerned that these men, and several others, may be at risk of ill-treatment again if they are arrested and interrogated by the police in the coming weeks.
