The International Secretariat is based in Brussels, where most European Institutions are placed.

The secretariat team is international and have a variety of backgrounds, preparation and experience. Most of them have had a working presence on the African continent.  The Secretariat staff lobbies and coordinates the advocacy activities of the Antennae and AEFJN members.

Presently the team is made up of three people:

 

Executive Secretary: Chika Onyejiuwa

Chika Onyejiuwa  is a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. Prior to assuming office at AEFJN Secretariat  as its Executive Secretary, he was the Director of Formation at the Saviorite House of Formation in Nigeria and taught Social Ethics, JPIC  and the Principles of the Social teachings of the Church. In addition, he was the JPIC Co-ordinator for the Province of Nigeria, South East and the interim Co-ordinator of VIVAT International  in Nigeria. Chika holds a BSc degree in Biochemistry from the Nigeria Premier University (University of Ibadan). He also holds a BA degree in Religion from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a Masters degree in Theology from Duquesne University, USA, a Masters degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, USA  and an Advanced certificate from the Institute of Spiritual Leadership in Chicago, USA. Chika was a member of the Jesuit Retreat team at the Jesuit Center in Benin, Nigeria giving  the Ignatian exercises and other forms of Retreats; and  facilitated workshops for  JPIC groups. Chika loves nature and solitude, reading, going to the gym and he  plays lawn tennis.

Policy Officer: José Luis Gutierrez Aranda

José Luis Gutiérrez Aranda is a Policy Officer “Trade”. Previously, he was in charge of “Voluntariado Claver” promoting interculturalism and integration of migrants in Spain. He worked as Migration Lawyer for a decade and researched on the Family Reunification Right of Undocumented Migrants at the EU. José Luis holds a Master Degree in Law from University of Sevilla (Spain) and Moral Theology from Leuven University, Belgium. He is Bachelor in Philosophy from Universidad de Comillas (Spain).  

Policy Officer: Gino Brunswijck

Gino Brunswijck

Gino Brunswijck is a Policy Officer “Food Sovereignty” and “Climate Change”. He is also responsible for communications. Previously, he carried out research on Sino-African relations and he was a social worker assisting refugees. Gino holds a Master Degree in both Economics and International Relations from the University of Antwerp, Belgium.  Gino also holds a Master in Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium.
